$125.00
This high-quality hardcover coffee table book has been designed and printed in Christchurch New Zealand and features a Silk Laminate Cover with Gold Foil details. A generous 188 pages long, it truly is something special to behold and is a must have for serious Britten Motorcycle fans.
It delves deep into the remarkable story that spans two generations of the Britten family; the revival of the treasured family home and workshop where the Britten motorcycle was designed and built.
Legendary New Zealand designer and engineer, John Britten, ambitiously converted the former Mona Vale horse stables into his home and workshop in the 1980s. John was inspired by the London Kew Gardens and created his own magnificent glass palace filled with trees, marble and impressive limestone pillars. Unfortunately, John’s time and incredible career were both cut short when he passed away from cancer, leaving his young family to grow up in the dream home he’d left behind.
When the house was severely damaged in Canterbury’s 2011 earthquakes, a decision had to be made regarding the Stable’s future, demolish or rebuild and restore. John’s eldest daughter, Isabelle, and her husband Tim, share their emotional renovation journey, how they stayed true to John’s vision and how they guided a huge repair/rebuild undertaking to completion.
This book also gives great insight into John's designs and projects along with an inside view of his workshop where bikes were designed and created in both it's past and present conditions.
